While Engy is covering a demonstration with her colleague Kamilia in front of Journalists Syndicate, she gets arrested but is later released. Her husband Ali is watching a football match and is enraged because his team lost. Ali and Engy get into a fight that ends in divorce.
Engy is shocked that her 13 years of marriage with Ali ended like that. Ali takes a long leave from work to enjoy his freedom. Engy tries to overcome her depression by getting a massage.
Engy tries to make Ali jealous by looking her best, which draws the attention of everybody around her. Her old friend Basel offers her a job, which makes Ali ask her to get back together.
Engy doesn't want to get back together with Ali. Basel and Engy get closer. Ali meets a new girl who wants to be a journalist. Engy tells her children, Mai and Solly, about her wish to marry Basel but they try to sabotage it.
Engy has a dream that Ali got custody of the kids. She finds out that the kids are trying to travel to their grandfather. She agrees to live with Ali in the present of a Mahram.
Ragaa and Heba take shifts in staying with Ali and Engy as Mahrams. Ali makes up a problem between Heba and her husband to make her leave. Engy tries to make Ali think that he's having hallucinations and he goes to a psychiatrist. He goes to the gym to get an athletic body.
Ali tries to impress Engy with his new look but she ignores him. He disappears and Kamilia tells Ali that Engy is secretly worried about him. Ali returns to Engy and she wants him to flirt with her, which gets him in trouble with an anti-harassment group. Engy and Ali live with each other again.
Engy tries to recreate her wedding night with Ali and their neighbors come to congratulate them as if they are newly weds.
Engy finds out that she is pregnant. She doesn't want to keep the baby at first but she changes her mind when she discovers the benefits she will get by being pregnant.
Engy decides to take advantage of being pregnant by having everyone around her do her bidding, from her husband to her family to her colleagues.
Engy and Ali go the police station to pick up their children after they get into a fight with a group of thugs. Engy considers giving birth through a caesarean section.
Engy gives birth to a baby boy whom she names Omar. She tries to remember what she did with her kids when they were babies.
Engy has a hard time balancing her work and the new baby. She fights with Ali's mother who refuses to take care of the baby. Samir brings her a fierce maid that scares everyone. Kamilia also brings her an old maid, but she doesn't stay for long.
The newspaper where Engy works has a competition, and her collage friend wins it. Engy wants to apply for the next competition to be able travel to Paris but the editor-in-chief refuses.
Engy thinks about repainting the house, but she remembers her painful experience with Bazooka and Turbo who stalled the whole time they were painting the house.
Engy's father and Ali's mother think of a way to express their feelings for each other. After receiving a threatening letter, Hussein and Kamilia stay overnight with Engy.
Mai and Solly are jealous of their schoolmates who get to travel abroad during summer vacation. Engy tells them that their financial situation won't allow them to travel.
Mai and Solly have a dream that they are living in extreme poverty and they get arrested for begging. In the dream, Engy works for Hussein and Kamilia and Ali tries to make Mai marry a rich Arab. They both wake up in the end.
With Ali being absent from home, the burden of caring for their kids increases on Engy, which makes her always wary of what they do whether they're with their friends or playing at home.
Engy struggles with her kids' private tutors because of the inappropriate dates of the lessons and the confusing number of requests that the teachers insist upon.
Solly and Mai try to form an association at school to help street children. They try to get more money and sandwiches from their mother, while Engy tries to do a journalistic exposé on street children.
Engy is disguised as a homeless girl who sells tissues to passers-by for her investigative exposé on street children. She gets more involved in this world in a way she did not expect.
Engy decides to have her teeth done in order to surprise her husband Ali when he returns from his trip, but the doctor makes her teeth look strange and she tries to fix the problem.
Engy meets her college classmate Tatiana at the club, and Tatiana tells her about her fancy life. Growing jealous, Engy tells her that she has a great life too.
A woman throws herself in front of Engy's car to make it look like an accident so that she can ask for financial compensation. Engy and Ali take her home to look after her.
Engy and her neighbor remember the gifts they used to get on Valentine's Day. Ali decides to take advantage of Valentine's Day by investing his money in a project to sell roses at his home, Engy tries to do the same.
When Ali and Engy think about leaving their children with Kamilia, she beats them to it by leaving her children with Ali and Engy, and the children begin to imagine their future, whether in the police or singing festivals.
Jamil asks Ali to travel on a press mission to Somalia, and Ali tells him to ask Engy instead. They remember that time when Engy was very fat and was trying hard to get back into shape.
Ali watches the movie (Between Two Mansions) and feels sorry for the changing situation of men in Egypt. As Engy reprimandes him for that, they both imagine that they are living like Mr. Ahmed Abdel-Gawad and his wife, Amina.
Engy tells her grandchildren about her memories of Ramadan: the funny situations she had with her family this month, especially on the first day, and the times she shared recipes with Kamilia. Engy tries to get leave for Ramadan.
