Azzam kidnaps two French soldiers. Abu Al-Nour (Al-Nour's father) is furious that one of the neighborhood’s men broke their deal with the French. When Azzam’s aunt dies after her house is robbed, Azmy accuses his brother Azzam of killing his aunt to seize their father’s inheritance.

When Buthaina professes her wish to work in Ferial's damask workshop, her father, Abu Al-Nour, asks for time to think it over. When Azzam kidnaps French soldiers and robs them, the French forces consider a way to catch the culprit. Azmy kicks Tawous, the firewood supplier, out of the neighborhood.

Azmy learns that Abu Al-Nour intends to start working with 12-gauge golden silk threads. Karim and Zadu think of robbing Abu Al-Nour's house and framing Al-Hamshary for the crime. As they break into the house, they assault his wife and rob the house. Abu Al-Nour's son Bakry gets injured in school.

Abu Al-Nour searches Al-Hamshary's house and accuses him of theft. Rumors abound that the thief raped Umm Al-Nour during the robbery. The thieves hide their loot in the graveyard of Al-Hamshary. The French engineer, Jack, comes to the neighborhood and observes how the damask fabrics are made.

After Esmat treats Buthaina's brother, he tells his father Azmy that he wants to wed Buthaina. Hanaey refuses to wed Buthaina after the incident with her mother. Azmy decides to nominate Shokry Al-Qawatly for the presidency. Abu Al-Nour is left in a bad psychological state.

Al-Hamshary arrives at the French commander's office disguised as a soldier. Eng. Jack learns how to make damask threads in Abu Hassan's factory. When Al-Hamshary kills three French soldiers who tried to assault the workshop girls, the neighborhood's young men are arrested and Buthaina is detained.

The General tries to question the surviving soldier but finds him comatose. Ferial is arrested in addition to a number of girls. Azmy is unable to see his son. Dr. Antoinette learns that Dr. Esmat got arrested. The neighborhood people and Dr. Antoinette march in a protest.

Esmat learns that there is a spy in their midst. Johnny reveals that his assailant was dressed like a girl. The General releases everyone, with the exception of Karim and Saado, who confess that Al-Hamshary is the one who killed the soldiers. The General decides to recruit the two to work for him.

Buthaina suggests that her father open a workshop for silver but Abu Al-Nour tells her that Azmy has control of the silver market. Abu Hassan is suspicious of Jack's insistence to learn how to make damask. Saado and Karim are released from prison. Ferial is arrested. Hanaey monitors Buthaina.

Hanaey asks Abu Al-Nour for Buthaina's hand but she refuses. Esmat asks his father to close the gold workshop. When Soldier Lewis is found without his military uniform, the Captain asks Saado and Karim to find his assailant. Azmy slaps Esmat after the gold workshop shuts down.

Saado and Karim try to get the neighborhood people to reveal who is hiding weapons. Buthaina tries to uncover Afkar's plot. Johnny tells the General that his attacker had a birthmark on his hand. Al-Hamshary hides away as soldiers search the neighborhood for anyone with a birthmark on his hand.

Hanaey tries to harass Esmat but Al-Hamshary stands up to him. Umm Azmy asks Buthaina to visit Azmy at the hospital. Azmy reopens the gold workshop. Esmat confesses to Buthaina that he killed the soldiers, and tells her she must conceal the birthmark on her hand. Dr. Antoinette covers the birthmark.

Buthaina leaves the hospital with her hand in a splint. When the French forces raid Abu Al-Nour's house to look at Buthaina's hand, she tells them her hand was broken in an accident. Jack asks Al-Hamshary to sell him animal skin exclusively. Al-Hamshary is injured after he attacks a French camp.

Esmat treats his uncle Al-Hamshary, who goes to hide in the cemetery. When Karim and Saado see the two of them, they report them to the French forces. As the French raid the cemetery, Esmat and Al-Hamshary flee, but they get attacked by masked men.

The leader of the outlaws helps Esmat and Al-Hamshary. Saado and Karim plot to rob Azmy's house. Azmy closes the gold workshop and offers to give up his seat in the Chamber of Deputies to Abu Al-Nour. He is surprised when Abu Al-Nour accepts.

Hanaey tries to drive a wedge between Abu Al-Nour and Azmy. Azmy reconsiders giving Abu Al-Nour his parliamentary seat. The leader of the outlaws, Khettar, drives Esmat and Al-Hamshary to a safe place. Al-Hamashry returns to the neighborhood after recovering and arrests Karim and Saado.

Abu Talal asks Esmat and Al-Hamshary to tell everyone that they were on a hunting trip. Saado forces Tawous to sign a promissory note and bring Abu Al-Nour to her house. Karim and Saado try to figure out where Esmat and Al-Hamshary were.

Hanaey proposes to Buthaina but Abu Al-Nour tells him of her refusal. Saado lies to the captain and says Esmat and his uncle went to ask for the hand of a Palestinian girl for Al-Hamshary. Azmy tries to win people over to win the parliamentary elections. Abu Al-Nour refuses to drop out of the race.

Eftikar arrives at the hospital after the French soldier, Johnny, rapes her. Johnny runs away. Esmat learns that the girl who was raped is Eftikar. As he tells his father and Abu Al-Nour of what happened to her, Azmy decides to wed Eftikar.

As Esmat passes his college exams despite their difficulty, he stipulates that his father must give his uncle Al-Hamshary his share of the inheritance. Esmat and Antoinette's plan successfully saves Buthaina from the occupation forces as they manage to hide the birthmark on her hand.

Esmat removes the cast from Buthaina's hand. Al-Hamshary threatens Hanaey and Tawous to put an end to their plotting against Esmat. The Captain arrests Johnny. Saado and Karim rob Azmy's house and sell the loot in the market.

Esmat, Al-Hamshary, and Ghazal keep an eye on the cemetery. The drunken Saado and Karim leave the nightclub. Hanaey and Tawous try to assault Esmat, but he fights them off with Ghazal's help. Al-Hamshary learns that Hanaey is targeting Esmat because he loves Buthaina.

When Saado and Karim spend all their money at the nightclub, they decide to retrieve the money they buried at the cemetery. The Captain informs Eftikar that Johnny killed himself. As Eftikar returns to the workshop, she takes advantage of the girls' inattention and sets the workshop on fire.

Eftikar dies in the fire as Buthaina is rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Dr. Abdel Hady catches sight of the birthmark on her hand at the hospital. Al-Hamshary considers selling the skins of the animals he hunts to John. Ferial's brother quarrels with Eftikar's father over the fire.

Unaware that they are being watched, Saado and Karim take out the loot from the cemetery. When their theft is exposed, Hanaey advises them to pin it on Al-Hamshary, who eludes the Captain when he tries to arrest him. The charges are dropped, and Saado and Karim are released.

When Azmy asks for Buthaina's hand for Esmat, Abu Al-Nour tells him that she is engaged to Hanaey. Dr. Antoinette tells Abu Al-Nour that Buthaina wants to wed Esmat to save her from the French forces. Hanaey insists on taking charge of his father's properties, which are managed by Abu Al-Nour.

Dr. Antoinette tells Abu Al-Nour that she will hide Buthaina in her house. Al-Hamshary helps Khattar to get rid of two French soldiers. Dr. Abdel Hady reports Buthaina and Esmat. The French forces search for Buthaina.

Al-Hamshary informs Esmat that the French forces are looking for him and Buthaina. As Esmat decides to escape with Buthaina, Al-Hamshary tries to secure him using one of the guns he is hiding. With the Captain's help, Hanaey tries to impose his authority on the neighborhood as its chief.

Dr. Antoinette tries to convince Abu Al-Nour to approve Buthaina and Esmat's wedding. When Ghazal is attacked by Hanaey and Tawous, Al-Hamshary rushes him to the hospital. Jack makes cheaper damask fabrics and sells them to merchants under a slightly different name.

Dr. Antoinette denies knowing where Esmat is and signs a pledge to turn him in. Esmat and Al-Hamshary hide in the mountains. Hanaey imposes an exaction on the neighborhood and threatens everyone. Khattar, Esmat, and Al-Hamshary decide to teach Hanaey and his men a lesson.

Khattar and Esmat attack Hanaey and his men. Abu Hassan is distressed that Jack has stolen the secret of the weaving of damask. When Abu Qa'oud is sent to prison for hiding Esamt, the latter tries to figure out a way to have him released. The Captain gets Hanaey to run for a parliamentary seat.

Esmat and Buthaina wed in Dr. Antoinette's house, but they have to flee before the Captain and his soldiers arrive. Hanaey stabs Abu Al-Nour with a dagger when he learns of the marriage. The Captain arrests Azmy's family and Abu Al-Nour's family.

Hanaey pays a lot of bribes in order to get elected. Al-Hamshary, Khattar, and Esmat attack a group of French soldiers to seize their uniforms, which they then use as a disguise to attack the police station and free the prisoners. As the two sides clash, Dr. Antoinette gets injured.
