During the filming of his previous movie "Suicide Squad" actor Jai Courtney had to go up to 230 pounds as he played a very muscular character. Thus he was too big to play a German officer in "The exception" which is why the filmmakers asked him to work out and lose weight in order to be able to play Captain Stefan Brandt.
