As Joe Hawkins gets a pretty synth for a robotic assistant, his wife Laura grows suspicious of Anita, the Synth.

Mattie is terrified by Anita's human-like nature. Geroge doesn't want to let go of his outdated Synth, while Pete Drummond feels threatened when his wife depends chiefly on their Synth Simon.

Anita steps in front of a van to save Toby's life. As George's car crashes, he asks Odi to hide into the woods. Meanwhile, Pete and Voss investigate the murder at the brothel.

Laura wants the family to take Anita for testing, and a shocking revelation awaits them. Pete Drummond and his wife decide to take a break as he goes to stay at Karen's, unaware that she is a Synth. Leo comes closer to finding Mia.

As the news of Killer Synth goes viral, panic increases in the city. Meanwhile, a secret that Joe kept intact threatens to bring about the doom of his family.

As Joe is far from the family in exile, Laura decides to reveal the truth to her children. Meanwhile, Leo reveals a past connection between David and Mia, whom he created to be Leo's carer.

As Karen heads to George's house in order to find Niska, Pete starts a quest to find out the truth about Karen.

In Hobb's lab, Leo, Mia, Max, Niska, and Fred are kept in captivity. It becomes clear that Hobb wants to destroy the other Synths, while Karen asks Leo to kill her. Meanwhile, the Hawkings try to save the Synths from impending danger.
