As the South Sudanese basketball player Jacob lives with his family in the Australian suburb of Sunshine, he dreams of one day joining the NBA. His life takes a turn when he's involved in a case connected to an injured girl from an influential family in Melbourne.

Jacob finds himself in a difficult situation when Elly Messina threatens to blackmail him after he returns the stolen Porsche. As his whole future hangs in the balance, he's forced to do what she wants.

As coach Eddie manages to take the Sunshine Kings team all the way to the finals, Jacob gets closer to his dream of being discovered by a US talent scout. Zara follows the clues in hopes of uncovering the mystery behind that fateful night.

As premiership celebrations are ongoing in Sunshine, the situation between Jacob and Eddie becomes tense. A US talent scout persuades Eddie to come clean so that Jacob can be free to be in his best shape.
