In the wake of a boat accident, spoiled billionaire Oliver Queen is thought to be dead. But when he makes his sudden return 5 years later, he is a changed man that takes on a role in protecting the city as a masked vigilante.
As a guilt-stricken Oliver struggles to deal with the aftermath of Tommy's death, Roy Harper emerges as a new vigilante intent on protecting the city and the Glades. A man from Oliver's past returns to settle a score with him, as Oliver finds a new ally in Sara Lance.
After he loses his company to Ray Palmer, Oliver faces another challenge in trying to mend his relationship with his sister. But tragedy strikes, leaving Oliver on a quest for vengeance that mires him in conflict with Ra's al Ghul.
Oliver is drawn back to his old life when a new threat emerges to threaten Star City in the form of Damien Darhk and his H.I.V.E. Thea adopts a vigilante persona to join Oliver in his quest, as Laurel makes a dangerous move in her attempt to bring Sara back.
As Oliver settles in his role as mayor, he starts to train a new generation of vigilantes to protect the city, which includes recruiting a new Black Canary. A doppelganger of Laurel from Earth-2 wreaks havoc on the city along with the mysterious Prometheus.
