Kimmy Schmidt is a woman in her late twenties who has been in a cult for 15 years. After she gets rescued, she sets out to start her life over in NYC, equipped with nothing but a cheerful disposition.
As Kimmy becomes fed up with her job as Jacqueline's assistant, she starts working as an elf at a Christmas store, then as an Uber driver. On the other hand, Lillian feels unhappy about the gentrification of her area, and Titus starts dating a construction worker.
As Kimmy resolves to attend college, she finds it hard to succeed academically. Meanwhile, Titus tries to find work, Lillian becomes a member of the city council, and Jacqueline moves forward in her relationship with Russ.
As Kimmy starts working at Giztoob, a tech startup, she is overwhelmed by her duties as the head of HR. On the other hand, Jacqueline becomes Titus's agent.
