Fortitude is shaken when a new, mysterious murder takes place at a time where Sheriff Anderssen is missing. As Eric tries to find the sheriff, Hildur is forced to take charge of the investigation.

As the mystery surrounding the death of the decapitated victim escalates, Hildur receives shocking news that threatens her job.

As Natalie and Vincent try to figure out the reason behind strange animal behavior, a horrific attack on the station leaves Tavrani brutalized. A wave of terror sweeps over Fortitude as the body count starts rising.

Natalie and Vincent's trip takes a turn for the worse. Hildur digs after Munk in the hopes of uncovering the reason he was appointed to replace her.

After a disturbing incident disrupts Bianca's memorial service, the pressure mounts to find the culprit behind the horrific murders. Hildur receives film footage of a mysterious event that took place in 1942.

As another murder rocks the town, Michael tries to come up with a theory using the footage from 1942. Hildur comes up with a plan to uncover Munk's true intentions, but her plan backfires.

After Dan resorts to drastic measures in a confrontation with Elena, he is forced to confront the truth about the person he has become. Eric is shocked when a familiar face turns up dead.

Michael comes closer to uncovering the truth as he shares his suspicions with Eric, Ingrid, and Petra. Dan learns of the extent of the changes he has been experiencing and gets offered a chance of a cure.

As Michael and Ingrid look into Hildur's murder, Dan turns the tables on everyone as he strikes against Petra and Vladek. Munk makes a promise to Michael following an explosive confrontation.

As Natalie's life hangs in the balance, Dan reveals the truth about Munk's nefarious actions. Michael comes to an epiphany about Freya's chances of survival.
