After winning the elections and becoming mayor of the city of Los Angeles, retired businessman, Neil Bremer, makes a decision that shows his naivety in the world of politics and causes him to clash with Councilwoman Arpi Meskimen, to whom he confesses that he only became mayor to show off to his daughter.

With Neil busy elsewhere, he puts Mikaela in charge at city hall, telling her to keep an eye on Arpi. Tommy and Jayden’s efforts to make Neil look better go down the drain, as he gets high while at a public event.

With a recycling plant to be built in a posh area of LA, Neil attends a town hall, where the upper-class residents protest against that plan. Jayden seeks to hire someone to write the speeches. Orly turns to Mikaela for help, only to discover something uncanny about her.

While on a work-related mission in Sacramento, Arpi rejects Jayden’s attempts at a friendship, as she misconstrues them as attempts at flirting, but eventually they bond and become friends. When Neil learns that Orly is having trouble at school, he tries to get closer to her.

When the LA Dodgers ask Neil to throw the first pitch at their game, he gladly accepts, despite his staff’s concerns. Tommy has a crush on a security guard at city hall whom he tries to impress by seeking to have his ID photo retaken, only to have his hopes crushed by the lady who takes ID photos.

The annual Respect in the Workplace meeting coincides with Food Truck Day, to Jayden disappointment, while Neil gets enthused about the meeting, which ends in an unexpected way.

As LA suffers from a shortage of avocado, Neil and his staff set out to find a solution. With Mikaela having trouble sleeping, she enlists Arpi’s help in a most unusual way.

When news of a one-night stand Neil had is made public, Orly confronts him about it. After Mikaela and Jayden compete against Arpi and Tommy in a trivia game, the four of them connect while doing unfinished work together.

When a palm tree causes an accident, Neil proposes a plan to get rid of palm trees, which is met by disapproval, so Orly asks Arpi to help him. As Jayden says that he’s having a baby, Mikaela and Tommy decide to conduct an investigation to get to the bottom of it.
