An English writer, producer, and director, born in​​Sandbanks, England. He is the son of actress Annie Croft and actor Reginald Sharland. He attended an independent school in Yorkshire, England, before joining the Royal Artillery in 1942, during his service in the army during World War II. After the end of his service, he began working in cinema and the entertainment industry as an actor, singer, and writer. He first entered the business field in 1929, at the age of seven, when he appeared in an advertisement shown in cinemas. He produced a number of artistic works, before settling in Tawera, Portugal.
