An American actor, producer, screenwriter, and novelist, born on January 14, 1926, in Hartford, USA. He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific War. He graduated from Yale University and studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre under the tutelage of Sanford Meisner. He appeared on Broadway, worked in television, and was the executive producer for two works. In 1956, he made his film debut in The Scarlet Hour. He is also known for The Longest Day (1962), In Harm's Way (1965), and The Story of Ruth (1960). He died on September 4, 1991, in Los Angeles, USA, of stomach cancer.
