An Italian screenwriter, director, and photographer, born in the Abruzzo region of Italy, to her parents Lina and Domenico Sigismondi, who were opera singers. Then her family moved to Ontario, Canada, when she was two years old. During her childhood, she became obsessed with drawing, so she studied painting and illustration at the Ontario College of Art, today's Ontario College of Art & Design University (OCADU). However, when she enrolled in a training course in photography, she became obsessed again with this field, so she majored in photography. She began her career by shooting fashion models, directing music videos, and several artistic works.
