He was an American actor and stunt performer, born on November 29, 1907, in Eatonton, Georgia, USA, as Dale Harris Van Sickel. In the 1920s, he was an American college football, basketball, and baseball player, and later he entered the film industry to become an actor. His father owned a photography studio in Gainesville, where he went to high school. After his graduation, he attended the University of Florida. He began his career as a stuntman in over 200 films and has appeared as an extra and occasional leading man in over 300 productions. He was doubled for Clark Gable, Robert Taylor, and Dana Andrews. His notable works include Zombies of the Stratosphere (1952), Radar Patrol vs. Spy King (1949), and The Crimson Ghost (1946). He was married to Iris Van Sickel, with whom he had two children. He died at the age of 69 after a car accident stunt caused brain damage on January 25, 1977, in Newport Beach, California, USA.
