On Wednesday, the 5th of November, the European Film Panorama will hold a press conference, in which it will announce the launch of its 7th edition, with details about the event, which will start on the 19th of the same month.

The film screening event, first created by producer and director Marian Khoury, will be screening 40 films in two theaters (Manial's Galaxy and Downtown's Zawya), including a variety of selected award-winning European films, till the 29th of November.

Stephanie Secard will serve as the event's artistic director for the sixth consecutive year, heading a highly active team responsible for laying out a schedule for the screenings, and a program for the event that will be holistic, easily accessible and educational at the same time.

Selected films will be organized into programs, which are: European Cinema, which includes films produced in Europe that were highly regarded and award winning at European film festivals, in addition to Emerging Directors, Documentary Rendez-Vous, Education and Cinema, Carte Blanche (screening of cinematic landmarks, organized by Youssry Nasrallah, Ahmed Abdalla and Nadine Khan), Panorama Classics and Guests and Special Events.

As to the Panorama's habit of focusing each edition on a certain European country or region's cinema, like France, Germany and Scandinavia in previous editions, this year's edition will focus on Swiss documentary cinema, by screening five Swiss documentaries, in cooperation with the Swiss film industry agency, which will be present in Cairo at the time of the event. In addition, the Panorama will dedicate special memorial screenings to German director Wim Wenders' films.

Being part of the Panorama since 2004, the Education and Cinema program is formulated specifically for school students of Cairo, giving them a chance to attend some of the films and take part in the discussions that will follow their screenings.

The Guests and Special Events program will include hosting filmmakers from Egypt and Europe in open conferences to orchestrate discussions about cinema and answer questions from the audience.
