Mohammed Abdel Wahab was born in Bab El Shaariya neighborhood. Mohammed joined the Oriental Music Club (currently the Institute of Arabic Music) after the approval of the family, who initially objected. He started his artistic career by singing in one of the bands. He worked as a music teacher at Al-Khazindar School, at the same time as he was studying at the institute. Abdel Wahab presented many songs with his voice, and composed music for Umm Kulthum, Abdel Halim Hafez, Warda, and others. In addition to composing and singing, Abdel Wahab acted in seven films, including The Black Candles (1962), The Impossible (1965) and A Bullet in the Heart (1944). |
