Indian actress and model born on November 1, 1973. She started her career as a model before she started working in cinema. She won the Miss World title in 1994. She appeared in several films in various languages including Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu and Bengali. She started her first business in 1997, and she was recognized for her impressive performance. After she won the title of Miss World in 1994, she joined Indian cinema and made her first film Iruvar (1997), which won the Best Film Award at the Belgrade International Film Festival, but she gained fame through the commercially successful movie Jeans (1998). She won the Filmfare Award, the most popular Indian film award, as Best Actress for her role in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999). She presented the British independent film Provoked in the same year and participated in the epic film The Last Legion. She stood in front of the great British actor Sir Ben Kingsley, who presented the character of Gandhi in cinema, in addition to Colin Firth and Thomas Sangster. |
