An American author, born in San Antonio, Texas, United States. She obtained a BFA from the University of Texas before obtaining an MA from the New York University Tisch School of the Arts. She was the first baseball journalist to cover the American League. She worked as an editor in New York magazine from 1980 to 1984, and covered the British royal wedding of Lady Charles and Princess Diana Spencer. She also wrote in the Boston Herald newspaper. She's known for The Insider (1999) and A Private War (2018).
