An American bestselling author of Gothic horror books and later religious book. She was born on October 4, 1941. Her books have sold nearly a hundred million copies worldwide. She was born and spent most of her early life in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the second daughter in an Irish-American Catholic family. She began college at Texas Women's University in Denton. Ann attended San Francisco State University and earned a master's degree in creative writing. She completed her first book, Interview with a Vampire, in 1973 and published it in 1976. This book was the first of Rice's popular series The Vampire Chronicles, which included: Vampire Six in 1985, and The Queen of the Damned in 1988. For her fans, Rice's work is considered one of the best modern folk novels, and has the elements that ensure her eternal presence in literature.
