    An American actress and producer, born on 6 October, 1963 in Delaware. She began her acting career in 1984. She appeared in many successful films, including The Karate Kid and Leaving Las Vegas, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award.

    Elisabeth Shue is an American actress and producer known for her roles in "The Karate Kid" (1984), "Adventures in Babysitting" (1987), "Cocktail" (1988), all three "Back to the Future" films, "The Saint" (1997) and "Leaving Las Vegas" (1995) for which she won five acting awards and was nominated for an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA. While at Wellesley College, Shue began working on TV commercials, then broke into film with a role in "The Karate Kid." She then transferred to Harvard to study political science and got herself an acting coach. She then got a steady string of film roles throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s. The turning point in her career came with a low-budget drama about a suicidal alcoholic and a Vegas prostitute who fall in love in "Leaving Las Vegas" opposite Nicolas Cage. Her performance earned her an Oscar nomination for best actress. She won Best Actress at the Independent Spirit Awards, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards and the National Society of Film Critics Awards. Her career took off after the film and soon Shue was starring alongside Hollywood heavyweights in films like "Deconstructing Harry" (1997), "Palmetto" (1998), "Hide and Seek" (2005) opposite Robert De Niro. In 2007, Shue and her brothers produced "Gracie" based on her own experiences as the only girl on a boys' soccer team. In 2012, Shue stars alongside Jennifer Lawrence in "House at the End of the Street" and Meryl Streep in "Hope Springs."
