His real name is Charles Joseph McCarthy Jr. He wrote several novels that were later adopted into films such as "The Road" and "All the Pretty Horses". He is known for No Country for Old Men (2007), The Road (2009), and The Counselor (2013). In a poll conducted by the New York Times Magazine to select a list of the greatest American novels made between 1923 to 2005, his novel "Blood Meridian" ranked third. He received many awards, such as the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
