He is an Egyptian novelist and screenwriter who was born in Cairo. His father is the writer Abdul Tawab Youssef, who is one of the pioneers of children's literature, and his mother is Natila Ibrahim Rashid- known as Mama Lubna -was the editor-in-chief of "Samir" magazine for children for nearly forty years. He graduated from the Faculty of Arts, English Department, Cairo University. Essam is known for writing the series, Round Trip (2015). He also wrote a collection of short stories and novels, including "1/4 Gram". He also worked as the general manager of Montana Studios for film production.
