Robert Preston was an American actor born in Newton Highlands, Massachusetts, on June 8, 1918 as Robert Preston Meservey. He won the Laurel Award in 1963 for the movie The Music Man. In high school, he was interested in school theater, and joined the Pasadena Playhouse, where he studied the art of acting, and presented dozens of performances during his studies and then signed a contract with Paramount Company to present many films with small roles, until he got his role in the play The Music Man which gained fame and he became a first-class star. He is best known for starring in How the West Was Won (1962), and Junior Bonner (1972). He passed away on March 21, 1987 in Montecito, California.
