An American actor, born in Bucharest, Romania, on December 12, 1893, as Emmanuel Goldenberg. Robinson won an Honorary Award at the 1973 Academy Awards and a Best Actor Award at the 1949 Cannes Film Festival, in addition to receiving a star on the Walk of Fame in 1960.
Edward married two times and had only one child. He is known for Double Indemnity (1944), The Stranger (1946), Key Largo (1948), and Little Caesar (1931). Edward G. Robinson moved to the United States of America with his parents at the age of ten and received a scholarship at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
He worked in Yiddish Theatre District in 1913, and two years later, he was on Broadway, where he worked steadily for 15 years. As for his cinematic work, he landed many small roles in silent cinema, after which he had bigger roles with the introduction of sound into films. He died on January 26, 1973, in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA, of cancer.
