An American actor, born in Rock Island, Illinois, on April 22, 1906. He attended the University of Minnesota, where he studied drama. Eddie Albert worked various jobs, such as an insurance salesman and a trapeze artist. He also joined a pop band. He worked in the theater and on radio, and in 1938, he presented his first film, Brother Rat. From that day on, he worked steadily in cinema, theater and on television. Eddie Albert was nominated for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a BAFTA Award, and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. His most notable work includes Roman Holiday (1953), Green Acres (1965-1971), The Heartbreak Kid (1972), and The Longest Yard (1974). He died in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, California, on May 26, 2005.
