Patsy Kelly was born in Brooklyn, New York, on January 12, 1910. Patsy Kelly began her career performing vaudeville at the age of 12. She received dance training, and was introduced to comedian Frank Fay, with whom she appeared in many Broadway shows. After being fired, she was discovered by producer Hal Roach, who joined her with actress Thelma Todd in a successful comedy duo. Although Patsy Kelly did not become an A-list star, she continued to work during the thirties, and provided many supporting roles. In the forties, she decided to quit acting, and worked as a secretary for a long time, then returned to acting, and appeared in many television programs, as well as playing some small roles in cinema and theater. In the late seventies, she had a stroke and lost her speech, and was placed in a care home. Patsy Kelly got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. Among her most notable work: Nobody's Baby (1937), The Naked Kiss (1964), Rosemary's Baby (1968), and Freaky Friday (1976). She died on September 24, 1981 in Woodland, Los Angeles, California, of cancer.
