An Austrian actress, born in Vienna, Austria. After attending school, she wanted to be a dancer, and Gertrud Bodenwieser taught her, only then she discovered that she had a talent for acting. She appeared in many Austrian and German theatres, especially in Berlin, Vienna, and Salzburg, and appeared in more than thirty films from 1931 to 1991. Her first appearance was in Berlin in the 1930s, where she played the role of Hermia in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Dream. She participated in many diverse cinematic works, such as Sissi (1955), Der Schwan (1982), Das Wort (1970), and Uncle Tom's Cabin (1965).
