A French actress who was born in Paris on August 22, 1922. She won the SACD Award in 1940 and the French César Honorary Prize in 2004. She married twice and got a daughter. She is known for If a Man Answers (1962), Under My Skin (1950), and Goodweather But Stormy Late this Afternoon (1986). She studied percussion dance with Irene Boppard and studied at the École des Beaux-Arts under the supervision of actress Corinne Lochaere. She took acting courses for theater and acted on a few radio plays before she was discovered by George Wilhelm Pabst. She is known for the movie, Four Flights to Love (1940), after which she continued to present films during the Nazi occupation which left a bad impression on the French public. she gained worldwide attention after the French press chose her as the best actress in 1947, and in the late forties, she went to Hollywood with her American husband William Marshall who presented several Hollywood films for her. The American audience did not like her films, and after her separation from her husband in 1954, she returned to France with her daughter continued to work in French cinema and often appeared on stage. She presented about 50 television works. Her post-Hollywood films include Donkey Skin (1979) and House of Ricordi (1954).
