Egyptian modern historian who graduated from the faculty of Arts, History section at Ain Shams University in 1955 and received a Master's degree and a PhD in Modern History from same University in 1963 and 1967. He was head of Modern History department at the faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University. He wrote for Al Ahram Newspaper, and has a number of publications and books. He was also a member of the History Committee of the Supreme Council of Culture, a member of the Shura Council, and the Supreme Council of the Press. His works include the series The New Street (1997), and Give My Heart Back (1998).
