She was an Austrian-American actress, born on November 28, 1896, in Vienna, Austria-Hungary. She studied architecture and engineering at the University of Dresden. She was forced to flee with her husband and sons from her Nazi-occupied homeland and settled in New York. In 1941, she appeared on Broadway with "Letters to Lucerne", followed by a featured role in the musical "Call Me Madam." She is known for Flashdance (1983), Lilies of the Field (1963), and House of Games (1987). She passed away on December 18, 1994, in Bay Shore, New York, USA. |
