Mary trained in acting, and went to New York and married the vaudeville actor Clarence Rock in 1926 and they toured vaudeville theaters for 3 years. She first appeared on the cinema screen in Mannequin in 1937. Mary's most important works: The Addams Family (1964-1966), Dramatic School (1938), Between Two Women (1945), Dr. Gillespie's New Assistant (1942). She suffered a stroke that prevented her from working, until she died at the age of 82 years.
