She was an American actress for over 50 years, born on July 5, 1929 in Galveston, Texas, USA. She launched her career in New York in 1955 and made her screen debut in Wine of Morning (1955). She is known for her role as a mother who is hooked on cosmetic surgery and prying into her troubled son's life in Brazil (1985). Among her notable roles were in Soap (1977-1981), Overboard (1987), and Who's the Boss? (1984-1992). She was nominated seven times for the Primetime Emmy Award, one of which was for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in Everybody Loves Raymond (1996-2004). She has also received 2 Golden Globe Awards for Best Performance by an Actress for Who's the Boss? (1984-1992) and Soap (1977-1981). She died on February 23, 2019 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
