An American actress, born on January 10, 1891, in Brooklyn, New York, USA. Her brother was Rear Admiral W.R. Shoemaker while her father, Captain Charles Shoemaker, was head of the United States Revenue Cutter Service. She studied at Hickman Dramatic School in Washington D.C. Also, she once performed with the great Will Rogers in a theatrical production of "Ah, Wilderness" at the Hollywood Playhouse. Between 1928 and 1976, Shoemaker participated in 70 films and television movies. She is best known for Alice Adams (1935), My Favorite Wife (1940), Conflict (1945), and Sunrise at Campobello (1960). She died in Los Angeles, California, USA, on September 18, 1978, of cancer.
