Jacques Jean Marie Rogge was a Belgian sports administrator and physician, born on May 2, 1942 in Ghent, Belgium. He was an orthopaedic surgeon and attended Sint-Barbara college and the University of Ghent. He was the President of the International Olympic Committee from 2001 to 2013. He is known for his self-appearances in Mexico City 1968: Games of the XIX Olympiad (1968), Munich 1972: Games of the XX Olympiad (1972), and Montreal 1976: Games of the XXI Olympiad (1976). Rogge received the Paralympic Order, the highest honor awarded by the International Paralympic Committee, in 2017 for saving the organization from financial disaster and received the International Fair Play Committee's lifetime achievement award. In recognition of his years of dedication to the Olympics, particularly his work on the London 2012 Olympic Games, The Princess Royal granted him the title of Honorary Knight Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George (KCMG) at Buckingham Palace on February 25, 2014. He was married to Anne Bovyn and died on August 29, 2021 in Belgium.
