After more than a year and half of screening delay for non-understood or undeclared reasons, Al-Arabia Company for Production and Distribution decided to release the film “Al-mossaafer i.e. The traveler”, starring Omar Sharif and directed by Ahmad Maaher, in theatres on July 13 with only five copies for display. The film director, in an interview with al-Shorouk newspaper, expressed his dissatisfaction of what happened; describing it as “ridiculous” as the film was screened in a number of countries and Internationals film festivals and is starring a superstar like Omar Sharif. However, none of this helped the film to be well presented as if it was a foreign film although all the crew is Egyptian.Despite his anger, Maaher said that he is happy to screen the film after the January 25 Revolution, and that this will make the film viewed by the real cinema audience.
