Viewers were surprised yesterday, Thursday the 20th, shortly before airing another episode of Yousri Fouda's program "Akher Kalam", that the episode where he would host the writer Alaa Alaswany with his counterpart, Ibrahim Eissa, would be cancelled. It was planned that in that episode, they would comment on the meeting between Major General Mohamed Assar and Major General Mahmoud Hijazi with the presenter Mona Elshazly the night before. In a swift reaction, Yousri Fouda announced on his twitter account that he would temporarily stop presenting the program, in protest at what had happened, while issuing a statement later today, Friday, to reveal the circumstances under which the episode had been cancelled. In the meanwhile Alaa Alaswany confirmed on his twitter account also, that the episode had been cancelled under pressure from the military council to the channel, in fear of the criticism and fierce attack Aswany would lead opposing the statements on their media meeting. On the other hand, on the official page of OnTV, was written that there's no truth at all to Yousri Fouda's resignation, or to the channel preventing the episode to air, or to Fouda's withdrawal from the channel. They wrote that Yousri has excused himself from appearing on the episode, and he will be issueing a press release the next day, so the channel certainly isn't applying any pressure. The turning point remains at the statement which Yousri Fouda is releasing today, according to which it would be clear whether he would continue working with the channel or if he's leaving it, as well as the reasons that led him to cancel the episode.
