“Ida” wins London Festival's Big Prize

With a special praise fromthe festival's jury, headed by Philip French, “ Ida” won thisyear's best film for the largest British movie event, London FilmFestival. French praised the plot adding “Special praise went tohis use of immersive visual language to create a lasting emotionalimpact." The film is directed by Pawel Pawlikowski.

The best British newcomeraward, which honors new and emerging film talent went to Jonathan Asser for his prison drama “ Starred Up.”

The best debut featureaward went to Anthony Chen for his Ilo Ilo, a film that tells thestory of a Singaporean family and its relationship with their newlyarrived maid.

Also with jury praise, theViennese documentary “My Fathers, My Mother and Me” won thefestival's documentary prize. "It is a thought-provoking anddisturbing film,” said the jury president. the documentary is directed by Paul-Julien Robert.
