Egyptian Feature “Farsh We Ghatta” Wins Montpelier's Golden Prize

Director Ahmed Abdallah's “Farsh We Ghatta” won the Golden prize for the35th Green Mountain Film Festival inMontpelier, Vermont.

The movie follows aprison fugitive after the true incident of prisons break on the 28thof January, 2011.It stars Asser Yassin,Yara Gobran and Amr Abed. The film has already participated inLondon, Toronto and Abu Dhabi Film Festivals.

The Egyptian director Yousry Nasrallah, head of the festival's jury was the first to announce themovie's as this year's greand prize winner. Nasrallah tweeted saying:“ Congratulations for Ahmed Abdullah and his beautiful movie “Farshwe Ghatta” which won the Golden prize at Montpelier Film Festival.”Before he adds in another tweet “By the way, the jury gave 'Farshwe Ghatta' the prize unanimously and enthusiastically. And theaudiences gave the movie a big hand.”

Ahmed Abdallah, the movie director alsotweeted saying: “ 'Farsh we Ghatta' has just won the Grand prize ofMontpelier Film Festival. The last Egyptian movie to win this prizewas 'Al Abwab el Moghlaka' in 1999.” While the film leading actor,Asser Yassin said: “ Today my movie 'Farsh we ghatta' won the bigprize of Montpelier Film Festival, I would like to praise andcongratulate the movie's crew.”
