When a policeman is killed, Richard Paul is sent to the Caribbean island that witnessed the murder to investigate. After doing so, he finds out that he has been assigned to the department there as the replacement for the murdered policeman.
As Poole continues his service at Saint Marie, he deals with mysterious murder cases that look unsolvable, leaving him to use all his wits and intelligence to solve the mysteries and find the truth.
